Charter College's 10 year anniversary celebration!

10 years of success

“Success does not equal material wealth like expensive cars or luxurious homes. Success isn’t just about what you achieve in your life; it’s about what you inspire others to do.

As we continue on our chosen path let us never ignore our core values of respect, honesty and responsibility, for without them our success is nothing. Your footsteps and your voices will continue to be heard in these buildings long after you have gone.” Charter College is a magnificent school. The Hogwarts of Honeydew!

We are a team, a support system and a family!

Charter College had its first reunion. 10 years of magic! We hosted a wonderful cheese and wine evening under the stars on our magnificent grounds. Laughter could be heard through the night as the wine flowed and 10 years of memories and friendships were reignited.

Our assembly was opened by Mrs Bennett who waxed lyrical about the school. As Mrs Bennett said in the opening speech “Looking at you all, Sam Cooke’s song about school comes to mind: He begins using subjects he never quite mastered at school as a yardstick against which to measure more important truths.

To wit:

"Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the French I took
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me, too
What a wonderful world this would be."

An anniversary is a time to celebrate the joys of today, the memories of yesterday and the hopes of tomorrow. Mrs Dodge spoke about how the earlier days and creating the school with her family and the future of Cambridge students in mind. She mentioned names and incidences that made the crowd giggle and reminisce. She spoke of the future, the changes and her vision.

Mrs Dodge was then presented with a beautiful keepsake necklace that had 3 words engraved behind the CC logo: “Comradery, Gusto and Family” The 3 words that she repeats often and have come to mean so much to those who hear them and live them. After 10 years Charter College has set a new standard in private education with dedication to excellence permeating every aspect of school life. Integrating innovative, challenging and enriching academic, cultural and sports programmes. Students leave with outstanding academic results, a love of learning, confidence and a firm value system that prepares them to embrace the challenges and opportunities of life.

Truly preparing them for life.

As Kahlil Giran said:

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

As Mrs Ledsham often says: “I have found my home”

Together we have made Charter College a success.

Together, we have made it possible that we can gather here and celebrate our 10th year milestone anniversary.

We are constantly and rapidly advancing in achievement, of which we are proud of.

It means that we have strived to establish ourselves in the education sector.

We have claimed our rightful place here.

As the Beach Boys said

“So be true to your school now
Just like you would to your girl or guy
Be true to your school now
And let your colours fly
Be true to your school”

We Believe true excellence in education is only achieved by a powerful, passionate team of exceptional educators , administrators and managers preparing young happy and motivated students to stand tall and make their mark anywhere in the world as the global citizens of tomorrow.

Preparing for LIFE!

Charter College believes that by setting the creative individuality of each child free, academic studies also flourish and life skills are developed.

Friday - Inter-House Fun Sports Day

Charter College kicked its 10 Year Anniversary off with an Inter-House Fun Sports Day. The 3 sports houses namely Ferguson, McKendry and Selkirk had to compete against each other at various stations. Some of the highlights were the tug of war, walk the plank, wheelbarrow races and sack races. Fun was had by all!

Friday - More Sport!

Charter College ended its Inter-House Fun Sports Day with 2 tennis doubles, a volleyball match as well as a few netball matches. All the games were played in good spirits and were evenly contested. By noon, the students were exhausted but filled with a sense of excitement as the Sports Day was only the beginning of a 2 day celebration of our beautiful school’s 10 year anniversary.

Saturday Afternoon - Talent Show

A celebration of 10 years of Charter College, was showcased by our very own deep pool of talent.

The students, teachers and staff all put their heart and soul into 32 very diverse and exceptional items. It commenced with the song “Family” (Ice Age 4) performed by the grade 8 students and culminated in “We are Family” (Sister Sledge) performed by all members of Charter College.  Various excellent acts ensured a packed programme from start to finish.

Congratulations and thank you to all who were part of making the event a success. The day was enjoyed by all and the audience was left begging for more.

Happy Birthday Charter College! We love being part of this wonderful educational institution.
