Charter College writers shine!

2017 was the first year Charter College had entered the SALA (South African Literacy Association) Writing Competition. The South African Literacy Association loves a good short paragraph, poem or short essay.

In 2018 the grade 12’s entered as part of their English syllabus and also Just for FUN!

They were told “Be BOLD, be ORIGINAL. Make us laugh, cry, feel, think!” They individually entered into one in one of these categories:

This competition is very different from the Cambridge syllabus and was a FUN experience for the learners.

The short story topics were:

  • Deepest fear holding my life back.
  • He /She bumps into his/her soulmate.
  • During a thunder storm…
The poetry topics were:

  • Freestyle,
  • Future,
  • Identity.
The short paragraph topics were:

  • The bucket list,
  • Vampire valley,
  • Is he/she real?
