2017 was the first year Charter College had entered the SALA (South African Literacy Association) Writing Competition. A NEW COMPETITION with a different theme every year! The South African Literacy Association loves a good short paragraph, poem or short essay.
The grade 12’s entered as part of their English syllabus and also Just for FUN!
They were told “Be BOLD, Be ORIGINAL. Make us laugh, cry, feel, think!”
They individually entered into one in one of these categories:
The essay topics were:
- A moment in time
- When I pushed the button…
- I discovered…
- 50 years from now
The poetry topics were:
- Romance
- Life
The rules were simple:
- Your work must be your own, original work. It should not have been published previously.
- We will disqualify any plagiarism work and it is against the law.
- Your story should not have previously won any other competition in S.A.
- You must use one of the given themes for your work.
We achieved OUTSTANDING RESULTS!
