On September 11, 2016, Charter College International High School joined forces with the Angel Network to operate a Street Store in Johannesburg. Students collected clothing for 3 weeks prior to the date, and managed to collect in excess of 30 black bags of clothing and toys.

The aim of the project is for the many less fortunate people to experience shopping by freely browsing and choosing their own items, thus restoring some dignity to their lives.

26 volunteers from Charter College International High School, made up of students, staff, their children and siblings of students helped to set up the store, and then proceeded to assist the people in selecting the items of their choice. “Shoppers” were also treated to a meal on the way out.

It was a very humbling, yet fulfilling experience. The warmth and compassion shown by all those involved was extremely inspirational and heartwarming.

A huge thank you to all who donated items, and who gave up their time to be a part of this Community Project. We touched, changed and enhanced many lives.
