Charter College English Department celebrates Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday and International Literacy Day.

Most avid readers will know about the author Roald Dahl, who produced fantastic works of literature such as ‘The BFG’, ‘Matilda’, ‘The Witches’ and ‘Henry Sugar’.

This year, Mrs Delport and Mr. Delport taught Dahl’s collection of short stories in ‘Henry Sugar’ to the Grade 8 classes while the Grade 9s thoroughly enjoyed ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’ and ‘Ethics’ while enjoying Dahl’s brilliant yet sometimes dark humour.

September 10th will celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday, a true legend among writers who has been enjoyed for decades by generations of avid readers. Our school implores our students to read as much as possible in order to promote literacy.

Charter College wishes the legendary author a Happy 100th Birthday!
