Our chosen charity this year was SPCA Randburg and due to Cambridge exams coming up, Charter College decided to do Mandela Day on Tuesday 14th.
Mrs Ledsham and our students headed to the SPCA in Randburg, with bags and bags and bags, of food and a giant jar of money.
Walking through the kennels and cages, students seemed sensitive to seeing the dogs and cats’ cute little faces, and realised the heaviness of the task. However, they all came to realize that the animals really are spoilt with love and attention when visitors are there. We played with the puppies, walked the old dogs and snuggled kittens. The people at the SPCA were very appreciative and thanked us profusely for the food, toys and money!
After playing with the dogs and cats, we headed to the charity shops and bought various books and ornaments. All the money goes towards buying supplies for the animals. Each little face that we saw, seemed to light up as we walked along the isles. Truly the best way to spend the day.
